FAQ
What are the key differences between the Razer Nostromo gaming keypad and the Razer Orbweaver mechanical gaming keypad?
The Razer Orbweaver boasts 20 fully programmable buttons over the Razer Nostromo’s 16, and the Razer Orbweaver uses the same mechanical key infrastructure as our Razer BlackWidow mechanical gaming keyboard series.
Additionally, the Razer Orbweaver has gone through stringent ergonomic testing and is fully customizable to suit each and every hand with an adjustable thumb module, palm and wrist rest.
The thumb, palm and wrist rests are all adjustable up to 15mm, and the palm rest has a 15 degree swivel, which can be set to locked, or to move freely.
What type of mechanical key switches does the Razer Orbweaver mechanical gaming keypad use?
The Razer Orbweaver keypad uses the tactile and clicky blue key mechanical key switches. Each one of the mechanical switches has been sorted prior to manufacture to adhere to a strict design and quality guideline.
Why are blue keys preferred for gaming as opposed to other available switches - i.e black key switches?
The blue key switches provide gamers with a very light required actuation force(50g) and the perfect actuation distance for optimal response while gaming.
What are Razer’s Hyperesponse & Ultrapolling technologies?
Hyperesponse refers to the technology imbued in our products’ mechanical parts, most importantly the buttons you press for victory. Hyperesponse keys like those on the Razer Orbweaver allow rapid key actuation and can be pressed anywhere on the key for accurate response.
Ultrapolling simply increases the number of times your key presses are reported back to the computer by reducing the interval between each transmitted data down to a blistering 1 millisecond. This makes your responses in-game a lot smoother and more accurate than with your average keyboard / keypad.
Does the Razer Orbweaver have anti-ghosting capability?
Yes, the Razer Orbweaver’s 20 programmable keys feature full anti-ghosting, also known as N-key rollover (or NKRO). This ensures that no matter how many keys you press down simultaneously, each and every key will still register as a command.
What are profiles?
Profiles save different key configurations and settings which is useful when switching a lot between different games and applications. For instance, there may be a keymap saved for first person shooters that has key configurations centered around the WASD cluster. Another profile might be saved for strategy games which involve the various hotkeys and commands you require.
Profiles are convenient as they save you from the hassle of reprogramming your controls each time you launch a new game. You just have to switch the profile to suit the game and voila! You’re ready to kick some ass.
Profile customizations can be accessed via the Synapse 2.0 configurator.
What is a keymap?
A keymap is a temporary switch of button assignments within a profile. The switch needs to be triggered by pressing a keymap switch button and can either change the keymap only while you hold that designated keymap switch button or cycle through keymaps every time you press the keymap switch button.
Note that while a profile stores information such as dpi / lighting, a keymap purely deals with button assignments.
How many keymaps and profiles can I save for my Razer Orbweaver?
You can save unlimited gaming profiles for your Razer Orbweaver; in addition there are up to 8 keymaps per profile available. You can switch between them on-the fly during gameplay without accessing the driver software. The keymap LED indicator will light up to show which keymap is currently active.
Do I need software drivers to use the Razer Orbweaver?
The Razer Orbweaver is USB plug-and-play ready so you can use it right out of the box with standard keyboard controls during gameplay. However, in order to access advanced features such as individually programmable keys, macro recording, and profile/keymap setup, you’ll need to download, install and register for the Synapse 2.0 configurator.
Can I bind modifier keys (shift, ctrl, alt) on the Razer Orbweaver?
Yes, you can bind modifier keys (and its key combinations) on the Razer Orbweaver and use them in conjunction with other keys to actuate unique commands.
